Course Update

We had a recce this morning to see the state of play at the Island. We have escaped relatively lightly. Water on the putting green and on the 1st and 18th fairways but not as bad as we expected.  There is a lot of damage to the allotments nearest the path. The fences are down.

The green staff are hard at work pumping off the water and Allan is in  his shop ready with his sale bargains.  Wellies are the order of the day if you want to stray from the main path.   Good news ladies the plants are all intact!!

Here is a view from the 1st Tee.

KJVI Ladies AGM & Presentation of Prizes

The AGM & Presentation of Prizes for the Ladies Section at King James VI Golf Club took place at the Clubhouse on Wednesday 22nd October, 2015.  Alison Knight was elected as the new Ladies Captain and took over from Moira Lumby, 2015 Ladies Club Champion and retiring Captain.  She will be ably assisted by her Vice Captain Michelle McKay and we wish them all the best for their coming terms of office.

The prizes were presented by immediate Past Captain Moira Lumby. Moira herself was the Ladies Club Champion and Fiona Farquharson the Ladies Handicap Champion. Unfortunately Fiona was unable to attend.  Liz Angus won the Knockout Gray Trophy and Liz and Anne Smith won the knockout 2 ball McGlashan Hoad.

Sheena MacGregor scooped an armful of trophies including the prize for Most Improved Player donated by the retiring Captain. It was great to see so many of the new members featuring in the Prize List. Pam Ewing won the Bronze Medal Winners Final and Donna Nixon was part of the winning trio for the Team Prize.

The business of the evening was followed by an excellent meal expertly served and presented by Paul and Mike.

CONGRATULATIONS MOIRA AND FIONA!!

The Ladies' Club Championships were held on King Jimmy at the weekend. It was a repeat of last year's finals with Moira Lumby and Fiona Farquharson fighting it out for the Scratch and Handicap Titles.

In a reverse of last year's results, Moira beat Fiona 3&1 on Saturday to claim the Club Championship for the first time. On Sunday Fiona beat Moira 4&2 to take her first Handicap Championship.

Well played ladies.

Island Greensomes

A popular fixture is the Island Mixed Greensomes, open to Gents, Ladies, Seniors and Juniors. The format of the annual Mr & Mrs Mixed Competition was changed a couple of years ago to widen its appeal.  All members were invited to enter in any combination of male and female partnerships.
Mums, Dads, Grans, Grandads & Kids – even pals. You could even enter without a partner and we would endeavor to find you one!
Winners this year with an incredible net 64 (15) were junior member Alexander Ewen and our Ladies captain Moira Lumby (and no he doesn't have to marry her because they won!)

Runner's up were Agnes and Stuart Manattini 69.8 (10.2) - looks like Mum wasn't happy about that missed putt Stuart!

The Mr and Mrs Trophy was retained by Liz and David Angus 70.6 (16.4) - what some people will do to save polishing the trophies!

LADIES OUTING 2015

The Ladies took themselves off to Dunnikier Country Park for their golf outing this year. Unfortunately our usual mini bus was not available so we had to press gang some poor souls into being the nominated drivers for the day Emoji EmojiEmojiEmoji

Well done girls and thank you!

Margaret, Agnes and Annie arrived eventually with the help of two satnavs and a mobile phone - don't ask!

Team one were at a disadvantage from the start with only two players and a scorecard for the wrong course. The weather was kind and we had one of the warmest days of the summer so far. The course is beautiful - wide open fairways and lots of run. Unfortunately that also applied to the greens where most of us experienced our puts running straight past the hole and off the green. Emoji

There were some excellent scores returned with team Agnes, Iris and Dot returning the winning scores (as it turned out in all categories) so the One Prize per Person rule came into force.

Congratulations also to Liz and Sheena.

We all had a wonderful day, sunshine, good food and excellent refreshments! Plans are now underway for the next one.
