Thanks to the little gnome(s)who have been beavering away in the clubhouse borders. Ladies both them and the baskets are blooming - they are so colourful. A bit like our Ladies section really!

Due to an oversight at the start of the season, the Teams for the Team Challenge trophies were not drawn. So you have all been playing without the incentive of earning points for your team. This will now change. Teams are:

  1. Fiona Farquhason, Margaret McGlashan, Muriel McPherson
  2. Moira Chapman, Alison Knight, Pat Hebner
  3. Michelle McKay, Margaret Watson, Dot Whytock
  4. Ann Arnold, Sheena MacGregor, Agnes Manattini
  5. Lesley Findlay, Moira Lumby, Linda Mailer
  6. Liz Angus, Iris Robertson, Anne Smith
The Dream Team are charging ahead but there is still time for the others to pull up their socks and catch up :-X !!

Score Sheet is on the Competition Board in the Office.

Outing to Pitlochry Theatre

A small group from the Ladies section went on, what has become an annual outing, to Pitlochry Festival Theatre. The play was The Admiral Crighton by J M Barrie
before the show we enjoyed a pre-theatre meal and chat at the Port Na Criag Inn.

Moira Lumby and Iris Robertson represented King James at Forres this week. They won their place by being the players (Silver and Bronze) with the best aggregate score over 4 medals last year.

Both ladies played very well over a strange course. Moira was runner up in the Silver division and has qualified for SLGA finals to be played at the Island in September. Iris was delighted to have a score in the 70s.

Well done girls - a credit to the Island.

Hope your behaviour on your shopping jolly was equally creditable !!!!

Congratulations to Muriel and Fiona who won their match at Pitlochry to gain a place in the Semi-Finals to be played at Auchterarder on Saturday 30th August.

They will play the Semi Final match in the morning and then will either go through to the Final in the afternoon or they will play for 3rd or 4th place.

If you are free on Saturday why not go along to show your support.

Ladies handicap league result:-

A very close match was played at King James VI on Sunday against Dunkeld and Birnam Ladies, with 4 out of the 5 matches going to the last out on the 19th green. The result was 3 – 2 in favour of King James VI. The Dunkeld and Birnam Ladies were very complimentary about how they had enjoyed our course and also of Paul’s catering in the clubhouse.

Members from all sections were represented on Friday evening when we played the Island Mixed Greensomes (revamped Mr & Mrs).  We were delighted especially to see Ben Anderson and Mikey Lumby represent the youngsters we hope to see for many years to come on the Island.

Everyone enjoyed the evening although it was disappointing not to see a few more joining in the fun. Maybe next year!!  Ben has promised to bring his pals next time. He really had a ball and played so well.

The winners were Liz and David Angus with a magnificent 64 although they had an unfair advantage having just returned from holiday in Portugal.  We know what to do next year if we want to win.  Liz and David also earned the prestigious trophies awarded to the best Mr & Mrs combination.  Close runners up were Mother & Son, Agnes and Stuart Manattini with 64.8

Well done everyone who helped maked this a most enjoyable evening.
